Testimonials

I never understood why people hire editors. Most of us have been speaking and writing in English for decades. However, Amy was having a promotion for the month of December, so I decided to send her something I had just written for my website. I thought it was pretty good, but figured she might find a typo or two that I missed. Was I ever wrong! She came back to me with a ton of fantastic changes and comments. I'm hooked! I plan to send all my writing to Amy before posting on my website. She's amazing.

I came to Amy because I needed someone to look at my writing with fresh eyes, to find mechanical errors and suggest other improvements. She greatly improved the clarity of the text, and her edits caught lots of little errors and made the text simpler and easier to understand. Amy approached my writing with kindness and respect, and working with her was easy and fun. I absolutely recommend her to others.

Amy's editing services are invaluable to me. Knowing that she'll be looking at my work allows me to write more freely and worry about perfection later.
—Jen Leo, writer

Amy helped me create a thoroughly organized and detailed final project. Her editing skills are excellent, and if it hadn't been for her travel background, finer points would surely have been missed.

Amy Scott is a top-notch editor who pays close attention to detail and delivers excellent work on time and on budget. She knows her way around a style guide, asks good questions as needed, and accommodates client requests professionally and efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amy for any kind of editing project—in fact, I often send colleagues her way.

Having read a comment by Mastin Kipp (who writes The Daily Love), in which he recommended Amy as an editor, I found my way to her website. I had a story to tell, and seemingly plenty of words, but was unsure that the way the words were structured would be easy to read and follow.

Reading Amy's website, I was impressed with her editing experience and truly admired the 'Nomadtopia' way of life she embraces. I felt my manuscript would be in safe hands with Amy, and that she would be honest but help me express my message in the most coherent way.

Communication with Amy throughout was easy and consistent and I really appreciated her swift responses and clear idea of timelines with projects. Once she had edited my manuscript and highlighted areas for clarification or further expansion, it really did feel like it was still my voice, but better.

The emotion and poignancy were still there, but where my thoughts had flown from my head to the paper in a constant stream, they were now subtly structured and organised for ease of reading by someone who hadn't lived my life and couldn't fill in the gaps themselves.

I have now sent my manuscript to a publisher. Following Amy's input, I am far more confident in the response I will get. I have learned as an author from the process of editing with Amy and would highly reccomend her to anyone looking for an editor.

When I decided to self-publish my first book, I wanted to do everything I could to establish my credibility as an author, and the best way to do that is by providing high-quality error-free content. Not only does quality content increase my chances of better reviews and more sales, I also see it as a matter of respect for the reader’s time and intelligence. And no matter how much I self-edit, or have smart friends “edit” by pointing out problems and offering suggestions, they just don't have the training, education, and experience of a professional. I knew I would need to invest money in hiring a professional editor for my book to have the best chances of success. Otherwise, I would have wasted my time in even writing the book.

After many drafts, I couldn’t see straight. I knew I wouldn’t be able to improve my manuscript any further without help from a professional, and I got lucky in finding Amy Scott. From the beginning, working with Amy felt like a collaboration. The free sample edit she did for me showed that she knew how to apply just the right touch to keep my author’s voice intact and strengthen my intended meaning while cleaning up errors in grammar, syntax, structure, formatting, and more. Where I couldn’t find anything wrong any more, Amy found plenty to improve upon.

Amy asked the perfect questions, in just the right way, to help me clarify what I was really trying to say. She helped me think through problems, and she even helped write or rewrite text when I was stuck. I was surprised and impressed at how much better the text flowed after Amy moved sentences and even whole paragraphs, sometimes from one chapter to another. I learned so much during our process, and my writing has greatly improved as a result.

Amy has experience in traditional publishing but also embraces the digital world with curiosity and enthusiasm, and she helped me solve problems as I navigated the many complicated issues around print and digital publishing. It wasn’t until I hired Amy that I learned just how much I didn’t know about editing and preparing a manuscript for both print and e-book formats. Amy helped me create a professionally formatted manuscript using the same standards and practices used by editors in traditional publishing houses.

Amy was always respectful, easy-going, encouraging, patient, and kind. It felt as though she was just as invested in my book as I was, which was a true gift. She met every single one of her deadlines, yet was flexible and accommodating when I missed mine.

I highly recommend Amy, and she will be my first choice to edit my work in the future. She is simply a delight to work with, and hiring her was the best decision I made for my self-published book.
